CONVENIO SPECIFIC COOPERATION BETWEEN THE SCHOOL OF ARCHITECTURE AT THE UNIVERSITY OF VALPARAISO - CHILE AND FACHHOCHSCHULE Schwäbisch Hall - GERMANY

In Valparaiso, ____ October 2006 by the Valparaiso University Educational Corporation for Public Law, represented by its President, Juan Riquelme Zucchet, residing at 2190 N Avenida Errazuriz Valparaiso and FACHHOCHSCHULE Schwäbisch Hall - Germany, represented by its Rector, Iso Donna Wagner, a resident of ____________________________________, has established the following Convention: Implementing

from years 2007 through 2010, a program international student and academic mobility in the careers of Design, Architecture and Cultural Tourism Management.

Student Exchange

First
- The exchange students will pay the right to teach only in their home university.

- Fees and other necessary travel incurred by participants will cost each student.

- Participating students may apply for grants and assistance as appropriate. Each university will inform his counterparts about the availability of scholarships and grants for foreign students.

- Accommodation and meals will be covered by the host university.

- Participating students need to have adequate health insurance, current and credit it successfully. Second



- Each year, may apply to the exchange program governed by this Convention to a maximum of 4 students from each university signatory.

- The parties agree that the number of participating students may be modified in the future by mutual agreement.

- The parties agree to appoint an academic supervisor of the exchange students in the following areas where the exchange will take place:

Typography.
Color.
Multimedia.
Sound Design.


Valparaiso University:

Carrera Ceramic Design.
Engraving.
Project Design.
painting and drawing. All studio courses

Participating students must have proficiency in the language of the country of the host university. Host University also provided at no cost an intensive immersion language and prior to the completion of their studies. Fourth



- Participating students will only be candidates obtaining degrees awarded by their home university but they may be related to degrees granted by the host university.

- The host institution will grant certification on the work completed on it by students, at the request of their home university. Fifth



Students participating in the exchange program under the terms of this agreement will be initially selected by their home university, whereas in the case of the University of Valparaiso, Seventh Semester students. However, the final admission decision is for the host university. Sixth



The period of incorporation of the participating students will be hosted by the University for a semester, performing at the following periods:

First Semester: March to June
Semester: August to December

To apply for the corresponding semesters, candidates with appropriate records shall be provided to mobile units on the following dates for

Nominations for First Semester: last week of October last year
Nominations for Second Semester: last week of April last year



Exchange of Teachers

First
The parties agree this Agreement, implementing academic exchange through an academic who annually perform an internship, determining each institution the successful candidate based on criteria that each institution defines

As of ____ of October 2006, between UNIVERSIDAD DE VALPARAÍSO, Educational Corporation of Public Law, represented by its Vice-Chancellor, Mr. Juan Riquelme Zucchet, Avenida Errázuriz Nº 2190 Valparaíso, and the FACHHOCHSCHULE SCHWABISCH HALL – ALEMANIA, represented by its Vice-Chancellor, Mrs. Iso Wagner, ________________ , the following has been agreed:

To put into effect, as of year 2007 and until 2010, an international program of student mobility in the Design, Architecture and Tourism and Cultural Management degrees.


Student Exchange

First
- The exchange students will pay their tuition only in the University they come from.

- The trip and any other necessary expenses will be responsibility of each student.

- The students in the program will be able to apply to scholarships and benefits when suitable. Each University will inform its counterpart about the availability of scholarships and benefits for foreign students.

- Accommodation and food will be provided by the hosting University.

- The students in the program will need a proper, valid and adequately certified health insurance.


Second
- A maximum of 4 students coming for each participating University will be able to apply to the exchange program ruled by this agreement.

- The participants agree that the number of students who can apply to the program can be modified in the future, after mutual agreement.

- The participants agree to appoint a professor as the exchange student’s supervisor for the following exchange areas:

Tourism and Culture Management

All theoretical courses.


Third
The students inside the program must be fluent in the language of the hosting University. Likewise, the hosting University will provide a free, intensive, immersion-type language course before the beginning of the exchange student’s courses.


Forth
- The students in the program will only be able to obtain a degree given by the University they come from. They are not necessarily entitled to obtain degrees given by the hosting University.

- The hosting University will certify the work done in it by the students, when requested by the University they come from.


Fifth
The students taking part of the exchange program, developed under the terms of this agreement, will be first chosen by the University they originally come from – in Universidad de Valparaíso’s case, students from the 7th semester –. However, the final decision of accepting them will be taken by the hosting University.


Sixth
The incorporation period to the host university will be of one semester. This period goes from:

First semester: March to June
Second semester: August to December

To apply to the suitable semester, the list of candidates along with their profiles should be presented to the correspondent student mobility units within the following dates:

To apply to the first semester: last week of October of the year before the courses
To apply to the second semester: last week of April of the year before the courses



Professors Exchange

First
The participants agree through the present agreement, to create a professors exchange program. This program will consist of one professor per year, who will make an internship. The applicant will be determined by each University and based on the standards they define.

Second
The Universities from which the professors come from, will be in charge of the transportation, while the hosting Universities will be in charge of accommodation and food.

Third
The subjects, joint activities, terms of use of the work done and the specific agreement of each visit, as well as exchange and other forms of cooperation will be negotiated in each particular case.

The Cooperation Institutions will understand that the funding of the agreements must be negotiated, depending on the availability of funding.




The participants understand that the implementation of ths agreement will start as of October 2006 and will continue for 4 years, being bond to an occasional revision and modification after mutual agreement. The possibility of a renewal of the agreement terms will be discussed by the participants' representatives during a period of at least six months before the natural end of it.

This agreement has been written both in English and English. Both texts are equally genuine.
